Tai Chi and Qigong now in Jamaica Plain

Have you wondered about Tai Chi and Qigong and never found a way to try it out? Or have you made a start and want to pick it up again? In the last couple years, Tai Chi has gained growing visibility. Health professionals recommend it more. Fitness centers find it could extend their programs. And more long time practitioners and teachers want to share their passion in new ways.  It is a good time to begin or pick up study of these invaluable internal arts.

Originating in Boston’s Jamaica Plain community, JP Chi Works offers workshops and classes  combining Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Gung) with complementary meditation practices.

DSC00299Classes and workshops offer a safe, supportive, relaxed learning atmosphere of kindness, encouragement and playfulness. We dive deep into the richness of the material, while maintaining gentleness and ease of learning.  We encourage students to learn to listen to your bodies’ needs. We enable you to develop at a pace that feels comfortable and free of strain.  We provide practices and space that may help you with the stress and toll of our fast-paced, always-on lives. 

Tai Chi and Qigong don’t take you out of the everyday. The movements and the philosophy behind them encourage inner peace, balance, centeredness, vitality, and wisdom in mind and body. The movements all aim to energize you eyes wide open on your path and connect you with the world. Classes offer an integrated approach to living in greater alignment with our bodies, our deepest selves, with our communities, nature and the Earth.

Melinda and Steve started JPChiWorks in 2012. We committed to sharing Tai Chi (Taiji) and Chi Gung  (Qigong) and related arts with others here in our vibrant local community. We both benefited greatly from these practices in our lives and have been grateful for the opportunity to offer this gift to you.

These powerful practices are suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness.  We blend specific curricula and traditions with the ability to proceed at your own pace. If you have specific health concerns, please notify us so we can best assist you. Also, please check with your doctor before beginning this or any other exercise program.
